We learned something new!

Now that Austin has pretty much mastered going up the stairs, last night he learned how to go down...the correct way. Once he figured it out we had to try it over, and over, and over again! Of course I didn't get really good pictures due to keeping my hands ready to catch. He is now teething really bad on his top gums. He has two teeth on the bottom already but something tells me the two top teeth are going to be a lot more painful. He is taking it like a champ though. We just keep things for him to chew on and Baby Ora-gel and that seems to do the trick.

Our productive yet fun weekend!

Keith painted the garage/basement floor. Isn't it pretty?

Rest in peace Farrah, Ed and Michael

It's a shame that Austin didn't get to know these guys in their primes. Farrah the beautiful angel, Ed the funny man who brought us laughter and sometimes sweepstakes money, and Michael the King of Pop who changed the music world forever before he got weird...and white. I remember watching Ed do Bloopers and Farrah in Charlies Angels and who didn't own Michael Jackson's Bad album?! Austin will only know them from VH-1's remember the 80's and 90's. Keith is very upset about Michael, and once he figured out that Farrah was in playboy he was upset about that too. I have a feeling that he will be playing Michael Jackson songs for awhile. When he heard that the sax player from Dave Matthews Band died he played their songs everyday for a week!

Too hot to go outside

Austin loves to be outside, especially in the pool. Lately we have had to keep this time down to a minimum due to the very hot temperatures. He is not real thrilled about it, and gets quite bored being couped up in the house on the weekends. He has even started crying anytime someone else "gets to go outside" and he doesn't. Strange how we change as we grow older. I used to be the same way. I loved staying outside all summer. Now I get too hot after a while and would love to take a nice summer nap and lay around with a giant glass of iced tea.

Keith's first Father's Day

3rd generation Kirkland pictureKeith cooking his father a meal which we all got to enjoy!
Dude playing walker tag with Austin. You have to really watch your feet and ankles during this game!
We also cooled off in the pool this weekend. We had 100 degree temps all weekend!
The pool felt great, but Austin wanted Daddy to stop taking pictures and get in.

I decided to start painting again

I haven't painted in about 9 years. I wanted to do this picture of Johnny and Jack for Alana for awhile and I finally got the guts to do it. I was so nervous about it because I wanted it to be perfect and I am so out of practice. I started and couldn't stop. I probably only put about 3 hours into it. My paint brush just wouldn't stop! I gave it to Alana last night and she really wanted me to share it with my family. Today is also Johnny's birthday so, Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day.

Adventures of Keith and Austin...and Aunt Lo-Lo!

While I was out of town for work Keith and Lori chased Austin. He as most of you know does not stop moving. He already knew how to climb up stairs but decided he was going to try climbing down. I am not sure I like his technique but we can work on it;) Keith took photos and cooked dinner which got him out of changing what Lori called "the biggest Austin Special ever!" As you can see it was all the way up his back. Hate that I missed that! He is pretty squirmy so the best way is to literally hang on to his feet for dear life and wipe as fast as you can. I am so grateful that Lori was there to handle the "special". Not that Keith couldn't have, but lets face it...he would have at gone through a whole box of wipes and a box of diapers before he decided to take him outside and hose him off;) I am so glad to be back home! I missed him so much!

2 years already!

Today is our anniversary. Although, we have probably been common-law married for over 6 years we have only been officially ball and chains for 2 years. It has been great and challenging so far. We have done a lot in 2 years. We have bought and remodeled a home, sold a home, had a child, buried a best friend, travelled out of the country, and we still like each other! I think we may make it;) I am out of town on business so Keith and the little man are on their own for a couple of days...wish them luck! I will post pics of Keith and Austin's great adventures when I get back. This should be interesting;) On another note... To my family; Sometimes the best way to love and help somebody is to let them love and help themselves. I know it's hard but there is a very fine line between helping and enabling. That's all I am going to say about that. Love you all.

Miss my Boo-Bear!

I have been on the road a lot for work and it's fun to get out, but I can't wait to get home to my little stinker...and his father Big Stinker. His Great Aunt Pat is in for a visit and she couldn't believe how much Austin reminded her of Keith. Still not walking yet but into EVERYTHING!

Peek-a-boo

One of Austin's favorite games. Fun for him, but hard on my face! Oh well! It's totally worth it. The things we do to get them to laugh.
