Scooter

I just want to let you all know that this is not how we put him to bed. He has always managed to scoot his way from one end to the other in his crib while he's asleep. Even when we had one of those sleep positioners. He'd drag that thing with him. Now it seems that he is getting too long to turn around;) He is 6 months old today! I can't believe how fast it goes by.

Bundle up!

It got really cold over night down here. So, we had to bust out the hats and coats...again. It's no wonder people stay sick in the south! One day it's 70 the next it's 30. So far Austin has stayed healthy (knock on wood). Strep throat seems to be the one going around now. Well, I'm ready for spring! How bout' you guys? As you can see his chin has cleared up tremendously from the A&D cream. I know you can't tell by the smile on his face but this was today at 5:30am. have a wonderful day and try to stay warm!

Every morning

Every morning at 5:30am the three of us head over to Gagaw and Dude Buddy's. I know...that's WAY too early! Little man is usually still asleep when we pack him up but occasionally, like this morning he will be wide awake and ready to play. I don't know how we managed to get so lucky? He has my sleeping habits. For those of you who don't know me I can sleep! And, he has Keith's "morning person" disposition. Which is needless to say a lot sweeter than mine. Anyway, I think he is almost done with that car seat. It only holds up to 20lbs and Tuesday I am pretty sure the doc will tell us he's a good 17-18lbs! I know his cheeks weigh a least 2lbs a piece;)

Much better

Thanks everyone! The A&D cream seems to be making it better! I hope everyone in the ice is okay. Everyone stay warm and safe! We love you.

Little red chin

His chin has been so red from all of the teething drool! We are trying to keep it dry but wiping it off just makes it more irritated. I keep lotion on it but he screams so I think it must sting a little. I have started putting diaper rash cream on it and it is much better. I can't wait for this dry winter to be over! Still no teeth yet so I don't know how long this massive drooling will go on. According to my baby calendar I had already gotten some teeth by now, but my brother Jake didn't have any until he was 1 years old! I hope we don't have to wait that long!

On the move

Can't leave him on the changing table anymore! I turned a round for a second to grab his clothes out of his closet. When I turned back around he had rolled over on his belly and looked as if he might take off in a crawl. He is so determined to grow up fast. He is getting to be more fun though. He loves to laugh and smile, especially at mommy. I guess I am just so funny looking;)

No worries

Austin and I watched the historical inauguration last night and I realized that I was watching and holding the future at the same time. I have high hopes for them both yet a little more faith in Austin;) Not that I don't think Obama will do well. I really hope he does. I was a little put off by the prayer held after. I am sure it was meant to be funny and I know God has a sense of humor, but it was in my opinion inappropriate. I thought we were trying to move forward and this guy gets up there and throws racist comments around about Whites, Asians, and Indians. I respect greatly that he walked with Martin Luther King(along with white folks). However, we live in a different world now where "whites do what's right" and what did he even mean by "yellow being more mellow"? They need to screen these guys a little better. Anyway, here's to the future!

He is even cute from up high! Keith was gone this weekend so little man and I hung out. Keith and his dad went to his uncle Jimmy's cabin in the Georgia mountains. It sounded like they had a blast despite the record cold. Something tells me they kept their bellies warm. Keith learned how to make his own wine so watch out. He also gave up on the gas company coming to get their propane tank we don't need on our property. A friend of his uncle's told him it would make an excelent smoker. Again...watch out! Hope you all stayed warm this weekend. Happy Martin Luther King Day!

The last speech

Austin and I watched President GW Bush address the nation one last time. I explained to him the first time he addressed the nation as president was 9/11. The first large attack on US soil since Pearl Harbour. I told him that the next time the nation is addressed we will witness the first half African American president(Most people just call him African American but his mama was white). I told him that I hope this man can do half of what he said he would. I hope that he is for the right change and not just any change, and I hope that he will hold this title with integrety and please, please, please avoid scandal and keep it in your pants. I don't think that is asking too much. Austin won't remember any of this but he will be effected by it. I wish W farewell and good luck in life and Obama hello and do your best to get this country back on track.

Waking up

Austin got his sleeping habits from me but thank God he got his waking up habits from Keith! He loves to sleep but unlike me he is happy when he wakes. In the mornings he usually greets us with smiles. In about two weeks he will be 6 months old! I can't believe how fast that goes by. Before I know it he will be talking back to me and telling me I'm not the boss of him and he's going to run away. I know...I'll deserve it. I have apologized to my mom about being an idiot and she forgave me. Just as I will forgive him. Mom always told me that my children will behave twice as bad as me, and to think about that when I am acting like a turd. Well, Keith must have been really good because Austin is such a good baby...or you all will have to come save me when he turns 13 ;)

Out sick yesterday

Sorry, I was sick yesterday and didn't put a post up. I got that nasty 24 hour stomach bug. It sucked but I am a couple pounds closer to my weight goal;) Austin could tell I wasn't feeling well so he behaved himself for the most part. I can't say that for Libby Dog who pestered me the entire time. When I have my head over a toilet I could care less whether she wants a chew bone or not! I think she got the hint when I tossed a book at her. She just huffed and walked away. I don't know where she learned to be so dramatic:) Anyway, it's freezing down here and I am starting to get antzy for spring weather. I know it's only January but I miss the warm weather.

Big shoes to fill

He's got a ways to go! We went to Alana's Sunday and I think he's in love. He is such a flirt and was oohhing and aahhing at her. He was also hanging out with Jack who is 2. I have a feeling he will be wanting to do everything Jack does and following him around like a puppy. So far we haven't met a food Austin doesn't devour and he is rolling all over the place. He seems a little more interested in crawling but would still prefer to walk. I guess he will settle on crawling if it will get him to where he wants to be. Which most likely will be where he's not supposed to be;)

Today is Keith's brother Kevin's (aka; Uncle Raw-Raw) birthday. Austin is ready to celebrate! Uncle Raw-Raw is one of his favorites! I will have to try a small piece of cake even though it's not on my diet;) I have done okay so far but it is so hard to exercise when it's cold and gloomy out. I can't wait for spring to get here! Keith, Austin and I are outside folks. Although, winter is cozy I am over it and ready to be in the warm sun. I'd have to say that this baby weight is a lot harder to loose than I thought it would be! I still don't regret eating what I wanted though, and I tried to exercise but I was either too tired or too fat;) I don't know how some women get back to their fighting weight so fast? When do they have time? Who takes care of their baby? Who cleans their house? Do they have jobs? Whatever. I will get there eventually. I hope:)

For those of you that have a lot of stress in your life...this always helps me.

Rolly-Polly

Austin is rolling all over now! Once he figured it out he went with it. He still shows more interest in walking than crawling. Either way when we come in May he will be mobile so be ready;) Had to go to the doctor yesterday. Keith and I had to work so Gagaw and Aunt Lolo took him. The nurse asked "what's a gagaw and a lolo?" :) He has Eczema but the doctor said it's very common in babies and should go away. It's just a dry rash on his back and tummy. It doesn't seem to bother him at all. He was in such a good mood at the doctor that the doctor and nurses had to play with him. They also weighed him at 16lbs10oz! Man, he is getting too big for his britches...literally!
